​Thali Media founded in 2011 by Marieke Schroeder, is a renowned production company based in Munich specializing in the production of feature films and documentaries. 

The company's thematic focus includes classical music, popular music, art, culture, and contemporary history.​​​​​​​​​​​ Recently the company started to develop fiction projects.

​Marieke Schroeder is a director and producer. After studying communication sciences, politics, and law in Munich, she completed the prestigious film program at New York University. Marieke Schroeder began her career as a director and producer with political documentaries for ARD and later successfully expanded her portfolio to include entertainment formats.  

Her film “A Woman and a Half – Hildegard Knef

the final documentary about the legendary artist, earned her a nomination for the German Film Award, solidifying her reputation in the entertainment industry.​

 

One of the highlights of her career is the feature film

“The Breathing God – A Journey to the Origins of Modern Yoga,” which achieved significant success with over 80,000 cinema viewers in Germany.

In 2017, Thali Media released “Schumann’s Bar Talks” at the Berlinale, an internationally acclaimed film that was distributed in numerous countries, including Japan, where it launched with 50 prints. The film was globally represented by Autlook Sales.

 

​Her films have been broadcast in over 24 countries, showcased at major festivals such as the Berlinale, Munich, Leipzig, New York, Los Angeles, and Cannes, and have received numerous awards.

A special focus is placed on the longstanding partnership with Pars Media, led by Jan Schmidt-Garre.

For 29 years, Marieke Schroeder and Pars Media have successfully collaborated on fictional and non-fictional projects for the international market. Among their joint ventures is the feature film "Fuoco Sacro," and documentary "The Alchemy of the Piano" which achieved great success in German cinemas.​

Thali Media and Pars Media are currently working on the documentary "Chess in Slums, directed by Jan Schmidt-Garre. The film tells the inspiring story of Nigerian chess master Tunde Onakoya and his project, Chess in Slums Africa, which empowers children from the slums of Lagos through the game of chess.
